Opportunities and Challenges for PTSD and TBI Applications

Some experts predict that virtual worlds technology is the next major innovation in web technology that will transform how users interact with data and with each other. The rise of a multitude of virtual worlds platforms filled with user-generated content and context suggests the rising importance of this medium for a variety of uses. The benefits of virtual worlds have been recognized by leading education, entertainment, business, government and military entities. Virtual worlds technologies also offer exciting opportunities in health care services including patient education, health tools, public outreach, provider training, provider support, and clinical intervention.

The purpose of this conference, 2nd Annual T2 Virtual Worlds Conference: Opportunities and Challenges for PTSD and TBI Applications, is to bring leading researchers and clinicians together to explore the many opportunities and challenges relating to the application of virtual worlds technology to address psychological health needs. Invited speakers will discuss key developments and research findings. Discussions will focus on future directions for leveraging virtual worlds to improve psychological health, particularly for Service Members, Veterans and their families.
